SUPER BLUE

Super Blue is still in an experimental phase and emerged from a desire to embrace a softer, more feminine approach to my practice. As winter set in, bringing a natural pull toward hibernation, I turned to acrylic pens and sketchbooks, allowing lines to flow intuitively. Through continuous line drawing, my process evolved into graceful, wavy blue studies - foundations for these paintings, which I see as dialogues with the dreamtime and a reflection of my inner landscape when I turn my focus inward.

The colour palette is inspired by an unforgettable journey the year before last. The day after my mum’s funeral, I traveled to a remote lake in the Norwegian mountains to attend a Breath and Ice Retreat. There, we climbed to the mountain’s peak in minimal clothing (Wim Hof style), an experience that left a deep imprint on me.

On the verge of hypothermia - cold to my very bones yet surrounded by such ethereal beauty - I was in awe. The sun made the snow shimmer, dazzling and dancing before my eyes. The clouds and lake seemed to breathe new life into me, so breathtaking that I forgot my shivering body, feeling as though I had stepped into something otherworldly. Words cannot fully capture that experience, but it remains imprinted in my memory. The blues, whites, and iridescent glitters in this series are my way of evoking the emotions of that moment.
