EARTH
PRAYER

LIGHT & SOUND
INSTALLATION

INTRODUCTION

Earth Prayer is an immersive light and sound installation that transforms outdoor spaces into a contemplative light garden, particularly suited to winter evenings and family audiences. Through sculptural textile forms, subtle illumination and an ambient soundscape, the work invites moments of stillness, sensory awareness and connection with the natural environment.

Combining light and sound into a form of synaesthetic storytelling that shapes the atmosphere and emotional tone, visitors are encouraged to slow their pace, move gently through the space and experience a quiet, embodied relationship with the land, their senses and the shared presence of others.

During daylight hours, Earth Prayer functions as a sculptural intervention within the landscape, inviting curiosity and contemplation before transforming at dusk into a calming, illuminated environment. The work supports wellbeing through sensory immersion, offering a restorative counterpoint to the intensity of everyday life.

PYROTERRA

SOUND & LIGHT

The sculptural forms are fabricated from metal armatures, plastic tubing and textile surfaces that are treated with a transparent fabric hardener to create durable, weather-resistant structures suitable for seasonal outdoor display. The material language draws on botanical forms and textile traditions, balancing visual softness with structural resilience. Intelligent lighting is embedded within each sculptural form and the installation includes a discreet surround sound system. Two delivery options are available:

AMBIENT LIGHT VERSION (3 colour tones)

A minimal lighting scheme paired with a continuous ambient soundscape that includes sacred sound and inspiring quotes by earth focused philosophers to provide a calming and thought provoking presence within the garden.

PYROTERRA VERSION (synchronised light and sound)

Using Pyroterra programmable technology, light and sound are synchronised to create an uplifting, multi-sensory immersive environment. Slow colour patterns shift through the sculptures in response to an ambient soundtrack, creating a form of synaesthetic storytelling. Sound is atmospheric and non-directive, looped seamlessly to allow visitors to enter and exit at any point.

FORMATS

Earth Prayer consists of up to ten sculptural light forms arranged in response to the site. The installation is modular and adaptable, allowing it to be sensitively embedded within gardens, pathways and open green spaces, with minimal impact on the landscape. All configurations are designed to read as ethereal white sculptural forms during the day and transform at night into an illuminated environment with five alternative formats as follows:

LIGHTWEIGHT MINIMAL INSTALLATION

  • GARDEN - sculptural forms mounted on slender poles, positioned along paths or dispersed in garden areas, allowing visitors to walk amongst the work. (With potential for a metal work collaboration to make more intentionally designed stems).

  • TREE - sculptural forms suspended on branches of a large tree.

STRUCTURAL  STRONG FOCAL POINTS

  • WALL - a framework forming an illuminated botanical wall with a softly colour-changing backdrop upon which the forms are mounted suitable for a walled area.

  • DOME - a half geodesic dome structure displaying the forms on the interior offering a more intimate, enclosed experience that visitors can enter and exit.

  • SPHERE - a freestanding geodesic sphere with the forms on the outside, forming a central landmark around which visitors can gather.

STRUCTURAL RIG

The work can be presented using a geodesic dome or sphere structure, chosen for its structural efficiency, stability, and suitability for outdoor environments. Geodesic frameworks distribute weight evenly, allowing the installation to scale safely while remaining lightweight, visually open and easy to install.

The structure provides a reliable mounting system for the sculptural elements and sound equipment, and can be configured as either a dome with entry and exit points (with the forms on the interior), or a freestanding sphere (forms on the exterior) depending on site and audience flow.

This approach enables straightforward installation, flexibility across different sites, and repeat presentation at public events, while maintaining a strong visual presence within the landscape.
