SUMMER GARDEN

Summer Garden was created in response to the death of my dear mother, whom I cared for through her journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Our relationship was intimate and sustained through time, presence and attention. After her death, I felt compelled to make work that could hold that connection - and Summer Garden emerged as a quiet act of remembrance and forgiveness.

Her garden was a place she cherished and where we drank tea, listened to birdsong and felt the warmth of the sun together. When she died, the garden faded with her. This work allows the flowers to continue living - in her honour and as a way to keep the memories of her love alive.

EDEN SERIES

The Eden Series was a development of the Summer Garden where I embraced a larger scale, greater complexity and a more imaginative approach - a response to seeking joy and light through colour and creation during a challenging time. I am drawn to using a hyper-bright colour palette as a way to bring more light to the world.
