CREATIVITY Workshops
Exciting creativity workshops for kids combining textile art, creative crafting, and design skills with informative talks about up-cycling and how to live more sustainably.
One day "Where's Your Wild' Workshops where we make something simple out of scrap fabrics that the kids can take home with them.

One week "What's in Your Imagination" Residency where I create an inspirational space called the "The Imaginarium" over flowing with crazy, artistic, textile creations.
During the week we co-create an art installation using the power of our imaginations and learning how we can harness this power to create a better world.

Suitable for 8 - 13 year olds
Or younger with parental assistance
WHERE'S YOUR WILD
One day workshop
Astra thrives on creativity and loves to share this passion with others by facilitating creativity workshops that are fun and engaging for a range of age groups.

She's also passionate about climate action and uses this workshop as a platform to teach about circularity and living more sustainably.
She wants kids to understand that up-cycling is way cooler than buying from big brand fast fashion. She teaches simple sewing skills so that kids can go away from the workshop and put recycling into practice.

Working with a range of techniques (such as hand stitching / applique / patchwork / glue gunning / machine sewing and pattern cutting) the kids make something useful out of scraps that they can then take home with them.

FORMAT
One day workshops tailored to the groups needs. As a guideline this is how a typical day event would flow:

INTRO TALK
Brief intro as to what I do as an artist and costume designer showing sample pieces for inspiration.
Discussion about climate change and how we as individuals can do something about it by up-cycling and living more sustainably.

MORNING DESIGN & SKILL SESSION
Drawing, colouring, design development and pattern making (dependant on groups abilities). Technical skill session with group demos and individual practical hands on learning.

AFTERNOON CREATIVE SESSION
Astra demonstrates how to make something out of scrap fabric and encourages students to use their own creativity to find their own version of it.

CLOSING TALK
Finally a wrap up session where we discuss how we can use up-cycling at home to live more sustainably.
Plus a group showing of what they've made so that they can see all the group creativity.

Things we've made
I never run out of ideas and always aim for things that are earth positive, vibrant and fun, with various skill levels for different group abilities.
Also dependent on what materials I've found / collected and can supply! My scrap fabric box is usually pretty full though.
